Article marketing is taking the web by storm these days. There are many reasons for this, not the least of which is that the cost to get started in business is absolutely zero. If you’re struggling a bit to get going in this field, the following article, shamelessly stolen from Derek Jones offers some good guidelines to success.
Of all the marketing systems, Article Marketing is the simplest, as well as the cheapest, way to generate traffic to your website as well as for creating back links to it. After making article submissions for a period of time you can be considered to be a bit of an expert on the subject.
The article marketing system is a very simple process which entails creating an article on your niche subject and submitting it to article directories. These are websites set up as a library of articles where webmasters or newsletter editors can browse for articles that may be of interest to their visitors or readers. These directories will accept original articles on a vast number of subjects and provide guidelines as to how the articles should be formatted. They usually allow one link in the author’s box which must be included with the article when published and later duplicated for use elsewhere.
The sole purpose of this method is to generate traffic to your website. Every article published will also create a back link to your site. If you submit to the higher page rank directories their page rank back links will impress the search engines and provide you with a better ranking. It is well known that back links is one of the search engine criteria for assessing page rank. The higher your page rank the more natural free traffic will also visit your site.
Here are some guides on some of the most commonly asked questions regarding Article Marketing.
1. Submitting one article to several article directories - will the search engines consider this duplicate content?
Generally the answer is no as the search engines consider that the article is the original content of the higher ranking directories.
2. Could I submit articles which I have already posted in my own web pages?
Since in item 1 above the article is considered by the search engines as the directory’s own work, your website copy would therefore be classed as the duplicate, possibly resulting in your website being de-indexed.
3. Is there a limit on the number of articles that I can submit?
In general there are no restrictions on the number of articles submitted, but the limitations are clearly explained within each article directory’s guidelines for submissions.
4. Will my article be kept intact by people that use it on their websites or in their newsletters?
The only way to keep check on this is to search Google for a specific uncommon phrase from your article. Check the results and ensure your resource box is available in each case. If a problem exists then you will need to make contact with the webmaster to sort them out.
5. Does article marketing really work? Yes it does work, but you will need to ensure:
a. The subject of your article is interesting and that it caters to a wide audience.
b. The article title makes the audience want to read more.
c. Ensure the article is of good quality, and informative.
The whole process falls down if the article cannot retain the reader’s attention. Good, interesting, quality information which is relevant to the niche market is what is required to ensure the success of your article marketing.
